BAC
WORKSHOP
Exciting new
opportunities
The BAC Workshop provides
vehicle repairs to the BAC fleet, outstation people,
other agencies within Maningrida and Maningrida residents.
The services of the workshop are vital to members as
they enable them to access and live on their outstations.
This year has seen the
opening of the new spare parts shop and a purpose built
wrecking yard. They are part of BAC's ongoing investment
in increasing employment and training opportunities for
Aboriginal people whilst at the same time providing additional
retail services.
The wrecking yard is
the ideal place for trainees to commence learning about
how a vehicle works as they dismantle vehicles to recycle
the components through the spare parts shop. Community
members can either purchase the second hand parts themselves
if undertaking their own repairs, or request second hand
parts be used to reduce their workshop bill.
With these new facilities,
well equipped offices, and a full complement of mechanics,
the Workshop is well placed to concentrate on the challenge
of attracting and retaining Aboriginal trainees.
